JLPT N4 Lesson 44 Grammar β Full Explanation
This lesson explains all major grammar points from Lesson 44 for JLPT N4 learners.
The explanations are simple, clear, and easy to understand.
Section 1 β Sugimasu meaning βtoo / too muchβ
Sugimasu is used when something is more than normal or excessive.
It is used with verbs, i-adjectives and na-adjectives.
Important rule:
β with i-adjectives, remove the final i before adding sugimasu
β with na-adjectives, remove na
β with verbs, remove masu to make verb stem
Sugimasu often expresses negative feelings such as too hot, too expensive, too difficult, or eating too much.
Section 2 β Yasui and Nikui meaning βeasy to do / hard to doβ
Yasui and Nikui are attached to the masu-stem of verbs.
β yasui = easy to do
β nikui = hard to do
They describe whether an action is easy or difficult.
They do not talk about cheap price or meat.
Section 3 β Shimasu vs Narimasu (Make vs Become)
This is the most important difference:
β shimasu β someone makes / changes / decides
β narimasu β something becomes / changes naturally
Shimasu shows intention and human control.
